Mar Vista is a small gated community tucked into the mountains between Flamingo and Brasilito — the kind of area where the road winds up through jungle and you’re not totally sure where you’re going until suddenly you arrive and there’s the ocean, spread out below you like it was waiting. Casa Mamboasis sits right in the middle of all that. Five bedrooms, sleeps 16, and somehow doesn’t feel like a rental property trying too hard.

The inside of the house is nice without being fussy. Open living and dining area, a kitchen that’s actually set up for cooking real meals, big comfortable sofas. But the sliding glass doors are what you’ll remember — they run along the whole main living space and when you open them up, the house and the pool deck just become one thing. That indoor-outdoor flow people always talk about? This place actually has it.

The kitchen deserves a mention because it’s genuinely good. Huge island, proper appliances, enough counter space that multiple people can cook without getting in each other’s way. And there’s a door right behind the island that opens onto the outdoor dining area, which means food goes straight from stove to table without a whole production.

Then there’s the pool. Infinity edge, faces the ocean, and it’s the kind of thing you see and just go quiet for a second. Around it there are daybeds, beanbags, a covered pergola with a big dining table, a grill — the whole setup. Afternoons here tend to stretch. That’s not a complaint.

The bedrooms are all comfortable and well put together. The master is genuinely lovely — soaking tub, walk-in shower, outdoor shower, opens right onto the pool deck. The casita out back is its own separate little guesthouse with a king bed, sitting area, kitchenette, and a huge window that looks out at the hills and the water. If someone in your group needs their own space, this is it.

Mar Vista itself has tennis courts, a gym, a yoga pavilion, hiking trails — good stuff if you want it. But honestly, most people staying here don’t leave the property much. Can’t really blame them.
